The
T-REX Project is a citizen-endorsed solution to replace outdated, aging highways
with modern, efficient highways and a light rail transit system. Funded without
any new or increased taxes, the $1.67 billion project will increase mobility,
enhance accessibility and transportation options, and improve safety to the
traveling public in a heavily congested, growing business corridor.
The
project includes highway expansion and improvements, and the addition of light
rail, along I-25 from Broadway Boulevard in Denver to Lincoln Avenue in Douglas
County and I-225 from Parker Road in Aurora to a newly configured I-25 interchange.
It also includes reconstruction of interchanges and bridges, a new drainage
system and improved pedestrian and bicycle access.
Construction will run
from summer 2001 to June 2008.
The Denver Post reported:
"..the southeast market's perimiter will continue to stretch, commercial brokers say, as congestion in the Tech Center worsens and the looming I-25 expansion project - expected to last seven years - forces companies to look farther south, east and west."
"Development along the E-470 and C-470 corridors should accelerate during that time."
The Denver Business Journal reported
T-REX
It's big, it's bad, it's ugly
"..office vacancies are up in the southeast metro area as businesses think twice about moving into the projects path"
